Holding the Second Meeting of the Criminal Investigation and Litigation Unit

H.E. U Tun Tun Oo, The Attorney General of the Union and the Chairman of the Criminal Investigation and Litigation Unit, attended and delivered the speech at the Second Meeting of the Unit held in the meeting hall of the Union Attorney General’s Office at 13: 00 P.M, today.

In his speech, the Attorney General of the Union said that the ARSA attacked police outposts, stations and one military battalion headquarters in northern Rakhine State on 25, August 2017 ; thereafter, incidents occurred between the security forces and the ARSA; during those incidents, crimes occurred in 13 villages within Maungdaw, Buthidaung and Rathedaung townships according to the final report of Independent Commission of Enquiry (ICOE); the first meeting of the Unit was held on 14, February relating to those matters, and the cases which have been decided, are under trial and to be investigated were discussed and a decision to submit the prioritized cases to the second Meeting was made in the meeting; additionally, a Task Force was organized by the Order No .1/2020 of Criminal Investigation and Litigation Unit to implement the decisions made at that Meeting; today meeting will coordinate and approve the prioritized cases to file first information report (FIR); Myanmar Police Force and the Union Attorney General ‘s Office will coordinate and cooperate in filing, investigating and litigating the cases to be effective process; the attendees need to discuss and explore the path to litigation against criminals according to the recommendation of the report of ICOE

The Vice-Chairman, members of the Unit and other distinguished guests also attended this meeting.
