Holding Sixth Meeting of the Rule of Law Centres and Justice Sector Coordination Body

     The sixth meeting of the Rule of Law Centres and Justice Sector Coordination Body was held at Amara Hotel in Nay Py i Taw at 9 a.m. this morning.

     U Tun Tun Oo, the Union Attorney General and Chairman of the Coordination Body, delivered an opening speech at the sixth meeting of the Rule of Law Centres and Justice Sector Coordination Body . He said, the government is giving priority for the development of rule of law and justice sector, and implementing in respective sectors. The round table discussion on rule of .law involving the Union Supreme Court, the Union Attorney General’s Office, the Anti­ Corruption Commission, Myanmar Police Force, and Advocates has been broadcast recently.

     He said, the conference on Justice Sector Coordination for Rule of Law held on March was discussed four goals and six topics during the conference to draft a strategic plan to promote the rule of law, and lay down the future plans of the
Coordination Body. The strategic plan of the Coordination Body (20 18-2022) was compiled in accordance with outcome s from the discussions, and a draft of the strategic plan will be approved in the meeting. The functions of the Coordination Body and Sub-coordination Bodies will be reviewed in accordance with their work conditions.

     The Union Attorney General said within over one year of forming the Sub­coordination Bodies, about 750 public reports have been received, and regarding the reports, they have also been coordinated between respective organizations. The progress from the functions of Sub-coordination Bodies has been seen, and he discussed that respective department , civil society organizations and international organizations will have to support and collaborate in the functions of the Coordination Body.

     Attendees discussed matter related to confirmation of the strategic plan, review on the functions of Coordination Body and Its Sub-coordination Bodies, sharing of working experiences, discussion for the effective works and designation on the processes which should be continued and advise-Jon.

     In the meeting, the Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson and members of the Rule of Law Centres and Justice Sector Coordination Body, and advisors of the Coordination Body were present.
